Welcome to the Triennial of Photography Hamburg
From 1st to 6th of April 2011, for the fifth time, Hamburg was the Centre of Photography in Germany.
The 5th Triennial of Photography Hamburg 2011 under the motto "Crossing Boundaries. Photo-Film-Photo" transformed cinemas and exhibition halls of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg into an international meeting place for film and photography.
Through exhibitions, screenings and film series on the photographic film, cinematic portrait of photographers, photography and photographers in films as well as films that were directed by photographers, the international photography event responded to changes from the silent to the moving image. More and more photographers present themselves in multimedial formats, be it on blogs at youtube or videos on their websites. The photo festival took on this new form of presentation as a guiding principle and, besides photo projections of young photographers in the exhibition settings, offered workshops for young people as well as discussions and interviews with photographers who work as directors, cinematographers and screenwriters at the same time.
Every three years, the international photography festival is dedicated to current topics and issues in photographic discourse. Since its launch in 1999, the Triennial of Photography Hamburg is about meeting creative people regularly and to concentrate in one place th committment for photography in the form of exhibitions, lectures, films and projections. As the capital of the media, Hamburg is the ideal place for it, being the home of most photographers, where important photographic collections, museums, galleries and other institutions that deal with photography are located.
The 6th Triennial of Photography Hamburg will be in June 2015.
We are sorry to announce that the 6th Triennial of Photography will be a year delayed due to renovation work at our main exhibtions hall, the Deichtorhallen.
